Certain days call for a rainbow

What a sad day.

So rather than write about how much I love Boston (a lot), how scary things like this are (very) and how amazing it is to see people come together and help each other out (extremely) – here is a little something to bring some brightness your way.

The two polishes I could wear every day!

I’ll admit – some might think I am in a nail polish rut.

I don’t think so!  I think I finally locked two down that are just about perfect for me!

Previously, when choosing a soft pink for my fingers, I always went with a true pink, something with a fair amount of pigment.  The other day, I randomly grabbed a bottle of East Hampton Cottage by Essie.  It is very pale, almost a white and has a tiny bit of iridencense.  Not something I would normally ever wear!  But I love it so much, it is all I have worn for two weeks!

I also grabbed a bottle of Essie’s Fifth Avenue (I must have been in a New York State of Mind…).  I am not a HUGE red person, I usually go for a coral or pink on my toes.  And when I did choose reds, I gravitated towards blue-reds, like OPI’s I’m Not Really a Waitress.

I was choosing the wrong shade!  This is an orange-red, slightly tomato-y.  And it looks amazing!

If you are a bit on the pale side, I totally recommend both (although I bet they look fab with a tan too)!

Fifth Avenue and East Hampton Cottage

She wore a raspberry beret… errrr, trench coat….

I just have to share my new raincoat with you!

It is from Banana Republic, but I can’t find it online.  Maybe it is still in stores?  I hope so!   PiperLime has a similar one.  It even has gold buttons (my favorite thing about the trench!).

I have never gotten more compliments from strangers on an article of clothing – I think it is something about wearing such a bright color on gloomy, rainy days which is, of course, exactly why I bought it!

so bright and fun!

What do you wear to brighten up a yucky day?

Forgive the quality of the photo.  My fiance is the only person I know who is completely incapable of taking a decent photo.  He looks great in them, he just can’t shoot one!  So I just had him snap a quick one with my iPhone.  His lack of photographic skill is the main reason I almost never do “what I’m wearing” posts.  Maybe I should invest in a tripod!

Quick side note: I am standing in front of our Hale Navy accent wall!  I wrote about it before we started painting and I have to tell you, it was the best decision ever!  If you are considering a dark accent but are over red or gray or brown – consider navy!  It looks so crisp with our light gray walls and white curtains!

(Someday I will get it together enough to share some before/after photos of our condo… someday)
