What I’m wearing for a Winery Wedding this weekend

Heading to a wedding this weekend and I am super excited!

It is in Sonoma at a gorgeous winery and I haven’t been to a wedding yet this year, so I thought it was the perfect opportunity for a new outfit!

I chose this dress from Nordstrom (get it here) and I love it!  Very comfy, light-weight material (perfect for hot summer months) and a gorgeous blue.

Next came the shoes.  Being at a winery, wedges are a must.  I don’t want heels poking through the grass and making me trip!  And I have been in the market for a new pair of nude heels (the most useful option, don’t you think?  Goes with everything!).  But I also didn’t want to hugely invest in a pair because wearing them outdoors can ruin them.  So, I chose this Nine West pair through Piperlime.com (just noticed they are on sale, bummer they weren’t earlier!).

And finally, as I was poking around Piperlime, I saw some adorable accessories on sale!  And they are still available!  I love blue and orange paired together (my wedding colors – yay!) so I naturally needed a pair of orange studs for this dress!  And who doesn’t love a huge cocktail ring!  I put links to both below the photo:

What are you wearing to weddings this summer?

She wore a raspberry beret… errrr, trench coat….

I just have to share my new raincoat with you!

It is from Banana Republic, but I can’t find it online.  Maybe it is still in stores?  I hope so!   PiperLime has a similar one.  It even has gold buttons (my favorite thing about the trench!).

I have never gotten more compliments from strangers on an article of clothing – I think it is something about wearing such a bright color on gloomy, rainy days which is, of course, exactly why I bought it!

so bright and fun!

What do you wear to brighten up a yucky day?

Forgive the quality of the photo.  My fiance is the only person I know who is completely incapable of taking a decent photo.  He looks great in them, he just can’t shoot one!  So I just had him snap a quick one with my iPhone.  His lack of photographic skill is the main reason I almost never do “what I’m wearing” posts.  Maybe I should invest in a tripod!

Quick side note: I am standing in front of our Hale Navy accent wall!  I wrote about it before we started painting and I have to tell you, it was the best decision ever!  If you are considering a dark accent but are over red or gray or brown – consider navy!  It looks so crisp with our light gray walls and white curtains!

(Someday I will get it together enough to share some before/after photos of our condo… someday)

Nina Garcia’s The One Hundred: Ankle Booties

Number three in this series, Ankle Booties, are not something I have owned in years. The last time I owned a pair of ankle booties was in high school, and while I did love them, I always wore them under jeans so I wasn’t really taking advantage of “the look.” I always viewed ankle booties as hard to wear and too “fashion-y” for me. Doing this little collection has proven to me how very wrong I was! I want ALL of these! I think the key here is to have them cut lower in front to lengthen the leg, which is something I am sure everyone realized YEARS ago.

I have a couple of pairs of skinny ankle-length black pants that would look amazing with any of these pairs. I feel a PiperLime in my very near future…
